Rae Barnes

Rae Barnes is a family photographer in the suburbs of Philadelphia that specializes in playful and relational portraits.  She fell in love with photography in middle school, spending hours daily in the darkroom as soon as she was old enough to take classes at her high school.  Rae earned her bachelor's degree in Applied Art from Converse College in Spartanburg, SC in 2004 and began her professional photography career within a month of graduating.  Just 18 months later, she was living in a tiny town in the Adirondack mountains of New York with her new husband, working full-time as a full-service wedding photographer.  Living in a small town and being new to the area and industry meant that she took on every photography job that came her way: weddings, seniors, maternity, babies and kids, family reunions, real estate, headshots, parties and even commercial work.  By 2008, Rae owned a studio on Main Street that brought in over six-figures in sales from mostly weddings.Right after her busiest year in business, Rae and her husband started their family.  They had four babies in six years and moved from a tiny town to suburbs of a major city… Meanwhile, Rae transitioned from mostly weddings to only family portraits.  During this transition, many things changed, but Rae‘s desire to capture sincere joy for her clients never changed.  While the shoot and burn model seemed the easy route for portrait clients, in 2016, Rae began to notice that her clients really needed her to move back to being a full-service photographer.  With the help of PPA and IPS Mastermind, Rae has had a complete facelift in her business in just a year, and she hopes to be a leading part in reviving the industry as a whole.
